The Gambling Dictionary

Main Pot
The pot where all eligible players have contributed to and thus are eligible to win.

 
Make
Multiple meanings; one is to be dealt the card needed to complete a hand. It is also to shuffle the deck or in the last case, when someone finds a cheater or has their cheating found out.

 
Mark
Placing a identifying feature on the back of a card in order to be recognize it easily at a later point - this is a form of cheating. It can also describe a person who is the target of a cheater or highly-skilled player.

 
Martingale System
Originally referring to betting strategies from 18th century France, today it means mainly the betting technique that calls for the player to double up after a loss as a way to recover the loss in the next turn, mainly in Roulette but used in all gambling games.

 
Match Play
Card game tournaments, and sometimes other competition systems, count points, with each game won worth a point or two, and the winner of the competition the first to reach a certain number of points.

 
Maximum Bet
Online casinos may limit the maximum amount a player is allowed to make, called the maximum bet. Alternatively, the term refers to the option at slot machines that bets the maximum number of coins.

 
Meld
groups of sequential cards of the same suit or number in Gin Rummy.

 
Meld
A set in Mahjong.

Place matched sets on the table; lay off; a matched set.

 
Micro-limit
A game which is played for or only requires a substantially small amount of money in order to play.

 
Middles
A form of cheating where either strong or weak cards are dealt from the middle of the deck instead of the top.

 
Mini-Baccarat
A game with similar rules to Baccarat, only with fewer players and dealers. Mini-Baccarat is not as popular at online casinos.

 
Minimum Buy-in
Besides the buy-in, the purchase of bingo cards to be eligible to play, the minimum buy-in is the lowest wage to spend to be eligible for prizes.

 
Miscall
A mistake when a player calls a hand value that is either incorrect or when another player has a higher hand than the one that is being called at the time.

 
Misdeal
When a mistake is made while dealing cards to the players and is justifiable enough to have the cards dealt again.

 
Miss
When a place receives a card that doesn't improve their hand especially on a draw.

 
Mistigris
A game played where there is a Joker card added in as a wild card.

 
Moderated Chat
A chat forum moderated by customer support staff, where users can post questions, problems, etc., and receive answers to their queries.

 
Money Ball
Before the bingo game begins, the money ball is drawn. If the player hits bingo on that number at the end of the game, the jackpot won is doubled.

 
Money Plays
A rule in table stakes games where cash can be considered part of a players stake instead of chips at first.

 
Monster
Describing something large and strong; ie: "I have a monster hand" or "I would up losing the monster pot"

 
Monthly Promotions
The benefits (e.g. deposit match bonuses, prizes, bonus competitions) which a casino offers its clients on a monthly basis; these are often updated from month to month.

 
Muck
The discard pile. Alternatively it is the action where a player discards their hand without showing while losing on the showdown.

 
Multi Line Slots
These are slot machines which award a prize on more than one payline. Traditionally, only the center horizontal line was the payline, however, on a multi line slot there may be diagonally or even vertical paylines.

 
Multi Table
Casino table games (e.g. poker) that allow many players to take part simultaneously at a number of different tables, and even in different online casinos.

 
Multi-Player Casino
Online casinos may offer multi-player games, which mean playing Blackjack, Baccarat, Poker and other games against others, not only against the casino.

 
Multiple Winners
If two or more players hit bingo simultaneously on the same number, the cash prize is divided among them.
