After Christmas, William Hill Odds for 2012

William Hill was saved huge White Christmas payout after absence of snow in UK.

Last Christmas the punters were the big winners, but this year the online bookmakers extracted their revenge after it failed to snow in any of the United Kingdom's major cities on December 25.

Saved by the Sun

William Hill Online was saved a repeat misfortune, as all 20 locations on which it accepted wagers saw only sunshine. In 2010 the bookmaker paid out a fortune after snow fell across Scotland, but this time the bookie cleaned up and will put the money toward paying off other gifts to customers.

The bookmaker is already taking bets for Christmas Day 2012, with 8/1 odds on snow falling on Buckingham Palace on December 25. More unlikely is that the houses of parliament will be closed for weather-related issues (50/1) or that Big Ben will stop as a result of frozen parts (100/1).

What will happen in 2012?

With Christmas finished, Hill has also released bets for 2012 - a year which includes the London Olympics and Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. The most likely scenarios is Prince William and wife Kate to have a baby next year, 2/5.

For the more adventurous, UK to win the next Eurovision is paying 33/1, conclusive proof of the Tasmanian Tiger being found is 100/1, Pope Benedict to confirm a second coming is paying 500/1, and a UFO being seen over London's Olympic Stadium during the opening ceremony is a surprisingly firm 1000/1.
