Horseracing Odds: High Noon at the bet365 Celebration ChasePublished April 25, 2015 by Amir G
The bet365 Celebration Chase horse race at Sandown Park is going to be the best show in town (15:15 UK time).
Sandown Park is the venue for today's intriguing bet365 Celebration Chase which shoots off at 15:10 UK time. The Grade One Celebration Chase is a national hunt chase that is run over about 2 miles in which the horses have to jump thirteen fences. The total prize purse stands at around £100,000, with the winner taking home around £56k.
McCoy's Last Chase
This year in particular, the bet365 Celebration Chase is drawing a lot of attention: Veteran jockey Tony "AP" McCoy is set to ride the Paul Nicholls-trained Mr Mole for the last chase in his jockeying career. The combination of the veteran jockey on his last professional raceday and Nicholls make Mr Mole a top favorite at the bookies with 7/2 at bet365 Sports. The 7-year old Mr Mole has won 8 races in his 16 lifetime runs, finishing second in 3 and third in 2.
But it's not a one horse show: bet365 Sports had 7/2 on the Henry de Bromhead-trained Special Tiara which finished third in last month's Queen Mother Champion Chase. Another big name is the Nicky Henderson-trained Sprinter Sacre which was 4/1 to win at bet365. Having turned 10 just yesterday, Sprinter Sacre is considered one of the best chasers of the era, but his performance at the Queen Mother Champion Chase was disappointing to say the least.
Sire De Grugy for a Third?
Another interesting competitor is the Gary Moore-trained Sire De Grugy which has won the last two chases and will be aiming to complete a historical trio. Things will be a little harder due to the absence of jockey Jamie Moore who broke his leg earlier this month. Still, bet365 Sports offered 5/1 on Sire De Grugy to win.
