Microgaming Poker Network Relaunches Bad Beat BonusPublished April 10, 2013 by OCR Editor
Just a few hours after the relaunch of MPN's bad beat bonus, _TiltShove_ and 52 other players shared a prize pool of €554,836.
On March 19, the Microgaming poker network revealed its new bad beat bonus with a new opt in system and changes to the criteria for the bonus to be triggered. The bad beat bonus would now be rewarded to any player that opted into the bad beat bonus and not simply to those that sat at designated tables. The criteria for the bad beat bonus to be trigger was lowered to Four of a kind being beaten which makes the bonus easier to win. €921,603 was carried over to the new bonus when it launched, making it the largest in the history of the MPN and the second largest in online poker history.
Amazingly just a few hours after the new bonus was launched it was triggered and a Stan James player with the alias _TiltShove_ took home the bonus of a life time, €370,789, when his straight flush was beaten by a higher straight flush. Another 52 players shared the winnings when the bonus hit, sharing a total of €554,836.
Some of the sites which support this bad beat bonus are Poker Time, Cool Hand Poker, Ladbrokes Poker and Wild Jack Poker.
The winner of the hand that beat _TiltShove_ was not opted into the bonus and because 20% of the bonus amount is rolled over to the next jackpot, the new bad beat bonus was seeded at over €370,000.
In response to the bonus being triggered so early, Lydia Melton, the Head of Network Games at Microgaming, had the following comment, "It's a fantastic beginning to a great new promotion. Congratulations to _TiltShove_ and all the players who won prizes".
Richard Cunningham, Head of Poker at Stan James, had the following to say about the new bad beat bonus: "We are delighted that so many players could share in this fantastic jackpot. The pot is still huge and much easier to hit than ever before, so there is plenty for players to be excited about."
The new bad beat bonus has hit an incredible 3 times since its launch on March 19.
