San Francisco Hosted EGR North America AwardsPublished April 28, 2015 by Elana K
The EGR North America Awards celebrated the excellence of operators in the iGaming industry. The event took place on April 20 in San Francisco at the Bentley Reserve Banking Hall.
On Monday, April 20, the EGR North America Awards took place for the first time, in what producers are hoping will become an annual event. The awards ceremony took place in San Francisco at the Bentley Reserve Banking hall, at the same time that the GiGse Totally Gaming conference was taking place, between April 20-22. With two iGaming events taking place at the same time, San Francisco is rightfully earning a reputation as a hub of iGaming industry talent.
eGaming Review Editor Tom Washington said, “San Francisco is the perfect place for these Awards, not only because the great and good will be gathered in the city for GiGse, but also because it is a hotbed of innovative companies, and it's only right that our nominated gaming companies take their place alongside them.”
And the Winners Are…
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa took home the coveted prize, Operator of the Year. Playtika won Social Operator, Tropicana Entertainment won Casino Operator, 888poker / AAPN won Poker Operator, GeoComply won Geolocation Operator, Scientific Games – Interactive won Freeplay Gaming Supplier and Dragonplay won Social Poker Operator. Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa also came away with best Mobile Gaming Product. There were 22 categories in total, and each winner was chosen for their excellence in the North American iGaming industry.
The judges were made up of an expert panel that included former CEOs, MDs and board directors of public companies, successful entrepreneurs and innovators and key advisors to the industry. The period of time that each operator was judged for was between April 1, 2014 and March 1, 2015.
“Each category is judged by a carefully selected panel of industry experts who have taken the time out of their very busy schedules to first read all the submissions and subsequently thrash out between them who they think should win based on the criteria we set,” Washington commented.
