The rankings for the worldwide poker traffic rankings for 2013 have been tallied and as everyone thought, PokerStars is still the world's most popular Poker Network in the industry. There is however a new second place has been named it is 888 Poker.
The Rise of 888 Poker
This is the first time 888 Poker, a subsidiary of 888 Casino has been ranked so high on the global rankings and in the last week of the year, 888 Poker registered over 2,600 cash players from around the world, edging out iPoker's 2,500 and Full Tilt's 2,400 players.
Prior to 2013, the second place spot was held by Full Tilt Poker but since the US Black Friday Shutdown in which Full Tilt and PokerStars became sister sites allowing players to move between the two sites freely, 888 Poker gained second spot.
One of the reasons for the huge growth at 888 Poker was a week long special hand promotion by PokerStars which gave players cash rewards for buying into specific hands at online poker tabled. Poker aficionados were quick to jump on this unbelievable promotion and 888 Poker was one of the platforms that benefited most from this promotion.
