Baccarat is widely recognized as "The Game of Kings", as it is known to be favored by the high classes back in the 17th and 18th centuries, including the royalty and the aristocracy. The game's origins are in Italy with the obvious lingua connection: baccara means "zero" in Italian. This is in tune with the rules of Baccarat - all royals and 10 cards in the game have zero value. Baccarat emigrated from Europe to North America over the years, and has bought itself a place of honor in brick & mortar casinos, attracting many high-rollers. Fans of the Queen's most popular spy, James Bond, are familiar with Baccarat, since Mr. Bond is known to be an avid player of the game.
Online Pro Baccarat
Thankfully, nowadays nobody has to dress up and get to a brick & mortar casino in order to enjoy Baccarat. It is one of the most popular games found in online casinos and this is not without reason. Baccarat, in its base, is a very simple and fun game.
Eight decks of cards are used to play Baccarat. Numbered cards from 2 to 9 are taken at face value, while King, Queen, Jack and the ten cards are all given zero value. The value of the ace is one.
Baccarat rounds are traditionally named "coups". A Baccarat coup begins when all players place their wagers betting on a player of choice which they reckon will receive the highest hands. The types of bets they can place are three: player, dealer or tie. A player bet will acquit the player with a win if he has the winning hand, the same is true for the dealer bet only with the dealer winning, and a tie bet will be won if both the banker and player have the same value.
After all bets are placed, the banker then deals two cards to himself and to all players in the table. The dealing ceases when a player receives two cards which value eight or nine conjoined. In Baccarat terms, this is called a "natural" - and the player who got it wins instantly. If the two cards together value a number exceeding 9, only the second digit is counted, for example: a hand value of 6+8 is 14, but it will only be counted as 4.
Players win the coup if the hand on which they wagered indeed has the highest value, or when both the player and the banker have equal values and a tie bet was placed.
