Are You Ready for Some Football? NFL Regular Season Starts Today

On paper, the Cowboys are the underdogs in tonight's game at home against the 49ers.  The "boys" wrapped up the pre-season with a lack luster 0-4 record while the rivals from San Francisco went 2-2.  These teams have one of the most beloved rivalries of any NFL franchises and both will be looking for a big win to kick off the season.

The Best Offense Is a Good Defense...

Last season the Cowboys struggled on defense and focused on improving at the NFL Draft. Out of a total nine picks, seven were defensive players. This means that Dallas may not reap the fruits of their selections until a little later in the season, in which their players have more rhythm and work as a unit.

For the 49ers defensively, things look quite good. In 2013, they were ranked third in total points allowed and should post similar numbers this season. They will be without linebacker Aldon Smith, out after a nine-game suspension but it will still be hard to move the chains against San Francisco.

QB Match-up

Tony Romo vs Colin Kaepernick is just about the best Quarterback showdown possible. They are both superstars and have the numbers to back it up.  

Kaepernick is 243 for 416 with 3,197 yards and 21 touchdowns, while Romo has the edge going 342 for 535 with 3,828 yards and 31 touchdowns.  Through the air, the Cowboys have the advantage but the 49ers are better on the ground averaging 137 yards per game as opposed to Dallas' 94.
