Arsenal vs Liverpool Match Opens a Highly Contested English Premier League Season

The English Premier League season starts with Arsenal versus Liverpool clash.
Leicester won the English Premier League last season, in one of the biggest upsets in the history of this competition. Chelsea was credited with the first chance, but it quickly sank into near irrelevance and other top dogs, such as Manchester United and their city rivals fell as well. Arsenal and Liverpool never came close of challenging the leaders, but managed to salvage the season in the final months. They will meet in the opening round in a match that could set the tone for an exciting season.
Inconclusive Results in the Previous Season
Arsenal and Liverpool ended both games undecided last year, with each team scoring three goals at Anfield road after a scoreless draw in London. Offensively, both teams have plenty of options and their best strikers have already scored goals at Euro 2016. Belgians Origi and Benteke have a chance to add their names on the goalscorers’ sheet, as their team is favorite to reach the late stages.
Injuries have been a major concern for Liverpool, with Sturridge spending a lot of time on the bench mending injuries. Arsenal had its fair share of players who picked up injuries that kept them away from the pitch. Luckily for them, they have more depth than their rivals and can easily make these absentees go unnoticed. That’s probably why they are credited with the first chance to win the opening match against Liverpool and they are priced at even odds.
The Best Managers Come to the English Premier League
Guardiola won everything that could be won with Barcelona and then did a fine job in Germany with Bayern. His new challenge is to win the Champions League with Manchester City and add a new domestic trophy to their recent collection. It’s going to be interesting to see how he will fare against the local rivals, as Manchester United have appointed Jose Mourinho as their new manager.
This reignited rivalry will peak a few weeks after the season start, as the city of Manchester will turn into a volcano for the local Derby. Manchester City is credited with the first chance to win the trophy this year at 3, ahead of both Chelsea and Manchester United. Arsenal and Liverpool are evenly matched at 6 and 8 but the odds are expected to move in the wake of the opening round.
