Best Gambling Strategy: Protect Yourself

GSED is a confidential and secure database of individuals who have chosen to exclude themselves from gambling at online casinos and other gambling establishments. The new service will be accessible from the National Council on Problem Gambling website as well as on the home page of Aristotle International.

Currently, responsible gambling databases that list compulsive and problem gamblers are not managed centrally. This means that different sites operate their own lists, which means that a player who wishes to register as a problem gambler may have to do so with multiple online casinos. The new technology is expected to be used by many of the online casinos and poker rooms that display the eCOGRA "Play It Safe" seal.

To register on the GSED, a player must identify himself and select from the options of a one-year, five-year or lifetime ban. Applicants cannot remove themselves from the list prior to dates they have selected. If a player whose name is on the list attempts to open an account with participating sites, they will be denied access. The technology has been well received in the online gaming industry and is expected to help combat rising levels of compulsive gambling.
