Russian Presidential ElectionNext week's Russian presidential election has attracted the most international attention of any Russian election since the collapse of communism more than two decades ago. The run-up has been marked by massive protests over Vladimir Putin's decision to contest a third term after four years as prime minister.
Putin remains the likely winner, ahead of four other candidates: Communist Gennady Zyuganov, A Just Russia's Sergey Mironov, Liberal Democratic Party nominee Vladimir Zhirinovsky, and independent Mikhail Prokhorov.
