Champions League Matchday 1: Group Stage Highlight

It is the first day of the UEFA Champions League Group stages and we get Barcelona vs. Bayern Munich at 20:00 GMT.

It is finally here. The UEFA Champions League is back and we are here to present one of the biggest matches of the night, which would also be an amazing final, as Barcelona and Bayern Munich go head-to-head at Camp Nou.

It will, of course, be very interesting to see Barca, sans Messi in the Champions League, but, this is the way it goes and we should still be in store for an incredible match.

Bayern and their star Robert Lewandowski have started the season in incredible form. Lewandowski is on a club-record run, scoring in each of his last 17 appearances, since February. He has also scored six goals in his first four matches in league play. Under Julian Nagelsmann, Bayern Munich is averaging just a touch under 5 goals per match. Over the weekend, Jamal Musiala, the teenage sensation, was the standout player with a goal and assist off the bench.

Bayern is playing some of the best football in the club's history and a Messi-less Barcelona will have a lot to deal with.

Messi led Barcelona to four of their five European championships over the last 15 years. Messi is not the only player that has left Barcelona, in fact, 11 players have left Camp Nou. Despite the complete overhaul, Barcelona has won its first two matches in league play with 4-2 and 2-1 wins at home to Real Sociedad and Getafe respectively. They did draw with Athletic Bilbao on an away game.
