Euro 2016 Qualifiers: Spain Welcomes Slovakia in Group C

The Slovakian Miracle will be put to the test by Spain in the Euro 2016 qualifiers at Estadio Nuevo Carlos Tartiere (7:45 p.m UK Time).

Spain won the World Cup and Euro less than a decade ago, but their recent performance in the final stages of these competitions were disheartening. They were at least expected to cruise to another final tournament by winning their group by a landslide, yet right now Spain has to settle for the second-place. The former champions already lost on the road against Slovakia but they can return the favor on Saturday.

A 90 Minutes Siege for Slovakia

The visitors are the only team besides England to have won all the six games so far and they plan on expanding their track record. Objectively speaking, their chances to prevail in Spain are slim, but the actual target is to avoid defeat and maintain their position at the top of the group.

This is easier said than done and coach Kozak is going to revert to a defensive minded starting formation with a single striker. This shouldn’t hurt his team’s chances of scoring on the road, because the top goalscorers so far are actually midfielders Hamisk and Kucka. Both are fit to play and will feature in the starting 11, therefore represent a serious threat to the home side.

Narrow Margin Victories for Spain

The hosts are not overly concerned about the outcome of this game, although they are just three points ahead of Ukraine and they will face the Eastern Europeans on the road. They expect an easy victory against Slovakia and are entitled to expect a defensive opponent that will pose few threats offensively.

Complacency has always been the biggest threat for top teams and Spain lost plenty of points recently due to the fact that they didn’t take opponent seriously. Punters who plan on wagering on this fixture would be better off taking the underdogs at even odds with Bet365, trusting them not to lose by more than 1.5 goals.
