Gonzo’s Quest revolutionised video slot development when the game debuted at NetEnt online casinos a decade ago in 2010. Swedish software developer NetEnt revamped the traditional format of slot machine reels by introducing cascading symbols that crumbled away after a win and were automatically replaced by new ones.
From 23 July 2020, fans of the original can play the eagerly anticipated sequel, Gonzo’s Quest Megaways, which has been developed in conjunction between NetEnt and subsidiary studio Red Tiger. In the build-up to the launch of the brand-new Gonzo’s Quest Megaways slot at participating NetEnt casinos, a YouTube trailer has been released as a trailer.
Big Time Gaming Licence
The first feature showcased in the trailer is that the Gonzo’s Quest sequel will utilise the trademarked Megaways system under licence from Big Time Gaming. In the trailer, it’s revealed that Gonzo’s Quest Megaways will have the potential to pay out winnings worth more than 20,000x the assigned stake.
New and improved graphics ensure that Gonzo’s Quest Megaways has the visual quality expected of next-gen gaming. Compatible with mobile or desktop, the video slot sticks with the South American jungle setting and provides a six-reel interface with four rows that enable the display of expanded stone symbols.
New Features
As in the original, the new version retains the Avalanche symbols and multiplier trail, which rises through 1x, 2x, 3x, and 5x if a sequence of consecutive wins can be achieved. The biggest difference are the changeable Megaways that can randomly provide anywhere from 64 up to 117,649 ways to win on each spin.
Another random element is the Earthquake feature that can suddenly trigger to disintegrate all low-paying symbols. Unbreakable Wilds are also included and can remain on-screen even following a win. Gonzo’s Quest Megaways also has Free Fall symbols that can trigger and re-trigger free spins, with a Royal Wheel mini-game letting users gamble for more spins.
