NBA New Year’s Eve Action: Warriors vs. Rockets

The Warriors suffered their second loss of the season and look to get back to winning tonight against the Rockets. Watch the NBA as the clock strikes 00:00 GMT from Toyota Center.

The Warriors are so far out in front of the NBA that they have almost ensured a playoff berth after 30 games. They were unbeaten for so long that teams had no idea how to beat them, until the Bucks stood up and delivered their first loss to Golden State a few weeks ago. On Wednesday night it was the Mavericks that would give the Warriors their second loss of the night 114-91, but the big story of that game was the fact that league MVP Steph Curry was sidelined with a bad bruise in his lower left leg.

With Curry out and listed day-to-day by the Warriors, the star could be missing from tonight’s game against the Rockets in Houston, which would not be a good thing. In Curry’s place is lackluster Shaun Livingston, whom scored 8 points on 3 of 7 shooting. Head Coach Luke Walton tried to fill the point guard position with many different players, but you cannot match the effect that Curry has when he is on the court.

The Rockets are in 7th place in the Western Conference with a losing record at the moment of 16-17. James Harden is leading the Rockets in scoring with an average of 28.4 points per game, but even with stars like Harden and Dwight Howard. The Rockets have struggled with consistency this season.

The Rockets are coming off a loss on Tuesday against the Atlanta Hawks 115-121, but are thrilled to face the Warriors with the possibility that Curry will be on the bench. Playing at home, the Rockets are 10-8, but have lost two straight games and are 5-5 over their last 10.
