NJ regulators gather more info about in-state partnerships.
New Jersey remains on track to offer Internet gambling this year, with the state's Division of Gaming Enforcement making a statement that it is on track to meet the original deadline of November 26.
Additional Information Submitted
According to the DGE, Atlantic City casinos submitted a "significant amount" of additional information about their online gambling partners by last Friday's deadline. The casinos were asked to submit more details after NJ regulators complained that their applications were incomplete.
Division spokeswoman Lisa Spengler did not divulge how many of the city's 12 casino hotels had submitted information. Nine of the casinos have publicly acknowledged their Internet gambling partnerships, while a tenth casino is also rumoured to have selected a partner for their egaming venture.
Story So Far
New Jersey is one of three US states to have legalized online gambling in some form or another. Under NJ's online gambling regulations, Atlantic City casinos may partner with online gambling companies to offer real-money Internet gambling to customers who are located within its state borders.
Some of the world's leading online casino and poker operators are already lining up for licenses, including 888 Holdings, which has an existing agreement to provide its technology to Atlantic City casino operator Caesars Interactive.
