Irish company reports rise of almost 300% in mobile app revenues.
Irish gambling company Paddy Power announced last week that its revenues from mobile gambling applications had risen 287 percent in the first half of 2010, at the same time as it announced the launch of a new Android app for mobile phones.
The Android was the third mobile application launched by the company this year, following new apps for iPhones in August and for iPhones and iPods in June.
As with the iPhone applications, customers using the Google-owned Android smartphones will now be able to manage their entire Paddy Power account using their mobile phone.
The introduction of mobile applications has revolutionized online betting, allowing customers to do open accounts, deposit and withdraw money and make bets on the full range of markets (including multiple bets) offered by Paddy Power and other mobile gambling companies.
The company has already begun offering customers sneak previews of the Android application through its Twitter and Facebook feeds, receiving what it said was "phenomenal" feedback.
This newest application was developed in conjunction with Mobenga, the Swedish company that also worked with Paddy Power to launch its iPhone web application.
Now more than three years old, Paddy Power Mobile is clearly expanding rapidly. It will be interesting to see which mobile application the company decides to launch next.
