Playtech News: First-Ever Omni-Channel Slot, Eyecon Acquisition & DC Deal

Playtech continues to establish its market domination with the first-ever omni-channel slot, and two important strategic deals with Eyecon and DC.

Things have been very busy for Playtech lately. The company's been moving to establish their position in the market even further through a series of well-timed moves, like the recent opening of the biggest Live Dealer studio in the world. During the past few days, Playtech has released several big announcements, all of which indicate that 2017 might be a milestone year for the company.

The First-Ever Omni-Channel Slot Launched

Using capabilities of their Playtech ONE platform, Playtech has become the first company ever to launch a full-scale omni-channel game. The game in question is the Tiki Paradise slot, which explores many possibilities offered by tracking players' activity on multiple channels.

First launched in 300 Coral shops in the UK, and with plans to expand to all 1,000 sites, Tiki Paradise allows players to keep playing where they left off, regardless of the channel they are using (in-shop, mobile, or desktop).

By playing via all three channels during a 14-day period, players get to unlock special features and gain access to more options when triggering the free spins bonus game. Playtech's COO Shimon Akad explained the company was very proud of the fact they were able to beat everyone else, becoming the first to launch an omni-channel game, and also hinted that this was only the taste of things to come in the future.

Playtech Acquires Eyecon

The company is clearly on the expansion path, which was further confirmed by the recently announced buyout of Eyecon. Eyecone is an online casino games supplier, which has produced more than 70 titles and owns their own remote gaming server.

Playtech believes that adding Eyecon to their corporate company will help boost their position in the market, especially in the UK. Eyecon founder Scott Murray, who will remain with the company for at least three years, shares the excitement, as he is convinced that the £50 million acquisition will enable Eyecon to penetrate new markets while they continue to develop top-of-the-line content.

CEO of Playtech Mor Weizer firmly believes Eyecon games will be an important addition to Playtech’s current offer. At the same time, Playtech will also get to benefit from the extensive industry expertise and experience of the company that’s been in the business since 1997.

Exclusive Deal with Warner Bros DC

Last, but not the least, Playtech has also signed its biggest ever deal for exclusive branded games with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment. The deal will allow Playtech to develop next-generation omni-channel games featuring DC-branded property.

Using these rights, the company plans to develop a series of DC-branded slots, roulette, and bingo games, all of which will be available via different devices and channels. This is made possible thanks to the already mentioned Playtech ONE platform.

Playtech signed its first deal with Warner Bros. in February last year, which led to the development of five slots based on the Batman Classic TV Series. These include Batman & Catwoman Cash, Batman & The Joker Jewels, Batman & The Batgirl Bonanza, Batman & Mr. Freeze Fortune, and Batman & The Penguin Prize.
