The First Ashes Test Tees off Today: England vs AustraliaPublished July 8, 2015 by Sol FH
The Brits are relaxed and set to give the Aussies the test of a lifetime as the Ashes get bowling at 12:00 GMT.
The atmosphere ahead of the first Ashes Test was relaxed on the England side, as the players kicked around a football at yesterday's practice. They are happy to be on familiar turf in Cardiff, a pitch known to be spin-friendly.
Australia are the current test holders going back to 2013-14, but that could easily change with the first match in Cardiff. The last Ashes was a whitewash in favor of the Aussies and England is set on revenging their loss. England Captain Alistair Cook is focused on getting their 32nd win and equaling the all-time series at 32 apiece.
England are also coming off great outings against New Zealand in the ODI and Twenty20 earlier this summer, but the heated rivalry against Australia is a matter of pride and competition will be first class.
The Australian team are no pushovers and as history has shown, the home pitch advantage is not the "hear all end all" when it comes to cricket. Expect to see a tough test and great play from both teams.
