What happened to Harry W. from New Jersey last week could have been easily taken out from the scripts of a successful five-season prime time American TV show. Two weeks ago, the retired New Jersey resident was diagnosed with cancer, a thing which prompted him to travel to an Atlantic City casino in an attempt to get his mind off the bad news.

From $20 to $1 Million

Harry W. went to the Harrah's Park Place Casino in Atlantic City where he decided to sit down at the slot machine section, planning to play with a limited budget of $20 for 20 minutes. His plan foiled when he racked up wins: He started going from one machine to the next, seeing his initial investment of $20 increasing rapidly. When he had finally accumulated a sum of $415, Harry decided he will pull the lever on IGT's Wheel of Fortune slot one last time.

It took a more knowledgeable player who sat next to Harry W. to explain to him that he had just won the slot's progressive jackpot, when the lights started flashing. Harry W. pocketed a whopping jackpot worth $1,055,732.

Some Relief

Harry and his wife lost their home during Hurricane Sandy. When the new millionaire returned home to his wife, the two decided that they will use the jackpot to pay off their home mortgage and move back to renovate and re-build their lost home. With the money they have left, the couple plan to invest some and aid any of their family members in need, and to spend their retired life at ease with Harry hopefully fully recovering from the disease.
