UEFA Champions League: PSG Vs. Man. City
Published September 28, 2021 by Sol FH
The match of the night will definitely be between PSG and Manchester City Tuesday at 20:00 GMT.
Paris Saint-Germain fans will be happy to hear that Lionel Messi could be on the pitch for the match against Man. City. Messi is ‘running again’ after suffering a knee problem.
The knee injury ruled Messi out of their match against Metz, which they went on to win 2-1. Tuesday evening could be the first time that Messi is able to play in the Champions League for PSG. The team stated: “Leo Messi started running again today in line with his treatment protocol. An update check is scheduled for Sunday.”
Messi's last match with PSG was against Lyon, wherein Mauricio Pochettino was criticized for not allowing him to play the full 90.
The manager defended his decision, commenting: “I took the decision to take Leo off to protect him for possible injuries. We have important games coming up and we want to protect him.
“These are decisions that we make for the good of the team. Sometimes the players agree and sometimes they don’t. Afterwards, Messi told me he was fine with the decision.”
He commented: “Lionel Messi, following a knock received on his left knee, had an MRI this morning which confirms the signs a bone bruise. A new scan will be performed in 48 hours.”
