Six-year-old mare ties record for consecutive wins in US horse races.
American horse Zenyatta has made sports history and become a hero for racing fans around the country by winning her 19th race from 19 starts last Saturday.
The six-year old mare, whose nickname is the Queen, had been so dominant in her previous 18 starts that she began the Lady's Secret Grade 1 Stakes at Oak Tree in Hollywood Park, California, as an unbackable 1/9 favorite.
"I always thought she'd get there," said owner Jerry Moss, "And she got there beautifully."
Her victory at Oak Tree means Zenyatta has ties Pepper's Pride record - set in 2008 - of 19 consecutive wins without defeat
Zenyatta also holds the world record of nine consecutive wins in Group 1 races, a mark she can extend on November 6 when she competes in her next race - the Grade I Weight for Age Breeders' Cup Classic at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

Such is her dominance that the John Shirreffs-trained champion heads into that race as a unanimous top choice amongst 18 experts in a National Thoroughbred Racing Association poll.
