US Open 2015: Preview and Betting MarketsPublished August 29, 2015 by Sol FH
The biggest tennis tournament in the US on the ATP gets started August 31 and bet365 Sports has some attractive outright lines ahead of all games.
We have learned a lot about, which players are on their game after the preparations events ahead of the US Open. It may not be surprising to Roger Federer fans, as he wiped out Novak Djokovic in Cincinnati, and again the Serb fell in the final against Andy Murray in Montreal. Djokovic is still the number 1 ranked player on the ATP, but after these two huge losses, will he stay there for long?
The US Open gets underway on August 31st in New York and all the top names of tennis will be on the hard court at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. On the men’s side, last year’s surprise winner Marin Cilic will be out to prove he was not just a one-hit-wonder, but his outright betting markets are reason to doubt his chances at 26.00. Last year’s runner-up, Kei Nishikori, current number 4 ranked player on the tour was beaten in Montreal by tournament champion Murray, but he is dangerous on the hard court and at 15.00 by bet365 Sports, he could be the answer to lucrative cash.
But getting back to the fan-favorites, Djokovic, Federer, Murray, Wawrinka and Nadal are all fit and eager to play on center court, but can the top players come through this year? Djokovic has won six Grand Slam titles this season including Wimbledon, Rome, Monte Carlo, Miami, Indian Wells and the Australian Open. This is why he is number 1 and is the outright favorite at 2.10.
UK superstar and number 3 on the ATP currently, Andy Murray (4.33 to win) has gone 78-14 over the last 52 weeks, which is a crazy win/loss ratio. Over that same period Murray has won seven titles, but the last and sole time he won the US Open was in his 2012 season.
On the women’s side, no surprises here, as Serena Williams tops the ATP rankings and is the favorite to win. Serena won comfortably in Cincinnati for the second time. Placing a bet on the favorite may be the surest thing a punter could do, but at only 2.00 by bet365, payout would not be as spectacular.
Other favorites for a US Open title include Victoria Azarenka at 7.00, the beautiful Maria Sharapova at 10.00, Simona Halep at 15.00, Petra Kvitova at 17.00, Garbine Muguruza at 17.00 and last year’s US Open runner up Canadian Caroline Wozniacki a severe underdog at 21.00.
Things are very lop-sided for the women and it is basically Serena Williams’ tournament to lose. When she is on nothing can stop her, but when she is not on her game, she can be de-throned by any one of the women above.
Punters looking to maximize profits can place pre-match accumulator bets of two or more selections to be eligible for a 50% deal for ‘To Win Match’, ‘First Set Winner’ and ‘Set Betting’, for all Singles or Doubles matches at the US Open.
