Yankees to Beat Angels and Win World SeriesPublished October 25, 2009 by OCR Editor
The odds are in favor of the New York team, aiming for their 27th World Series Championship.
The New York Yankees are still firm favorites to win their 27th Major League Baseball title, despite still needing to overcome the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to secure a place against Philadelphia in the championship decider.
The Yankees, who lead the Angels 3-2 in their American League Championship series, are an 8/13 Ladbrokes favorite to eventually claim the title, ahead of the defending champion Phillies, who are 6/4, and the Angels, who are an unlikely 11/1.
Unsurprisingly, the Yankees are near unbackable favorites to oust the Angels, with 10/19 odds of wrapping it up in game 6 at Yankee Stadium, being played Sunday night after a postponement due to rain. The Angels are 33/20 to send the game into a seventh and deciding match, and 6/1 to go on and beat the Yankees for a place in the World Series.
The odds are similar at most other major bookmakers, with William Hill also offering 6/1 odds on the Angels winning the American League, but giving even more generous 12/1 odds on them winning the World Series. The Yankees are 4/7 at William Hill to win the World Series, while the Phillies are 6/4.
For those looking for betting options of a slightly different type, William Hill is offering 11/1 odds on a Grand Slam home run being hit in game 6 of the Yankees-Angels series. For the baseball uninitiated, a Grand Slam is a home run hit when all bases are already occupied, worth a valuable four runs to the batting team.
William Hill also offer a $25 Free Bet with opening an account.
