The Real Deal - iDeal

It is said that a Dutch deal is a done deal. That’s why it comes as no surprise that payment processing has been given a fresh, bold look with iDEAL. This is a preferred payment method in Holland – one which guarantees security and ease of use. Go Dutch Paypal is not widely used in the Netherlands, but what is used is iDEAL and it’s all the rage. It allows for online payments through one's online bank. Available for players to choose when playing at ReferBack casinos and AFFClub casinos – it does make life easier and safer too. No need to hassle with filling out lengthy deposit forms – iDEAL will have it automatically set up for you. Simply complete your bank’s required authorization forms and away you go. From here on in, it’s happy gambling time; you don’t even have to worry about annoying delays in processing – it’s effective immediately. Just place your order with the cashier and select iDEAL as your payment processor. Select your online bank and wait for approval and it’s a done Dutch deal. It’s well known that over 40% of Dutch customers prefer electronic payment transfers when paying online. And their preferred method of payment is, increasingly so, iDEAL. iDEAL is widely accepted by both vendors and customers alike. In addition, it has the support of all major Dutch banks. When taken together, these banks represent a market share of more than 90%. What this means is that more than 5 million online banking customers are able to make payments with iDEAL.

Talking Swedish at Bingo Chat Rooms

Bingos.com has launched a new Swedish version of its online bingo site, to bring to five the total number of countries in which it operates. The popular online bingo site has existing sites for customers in the United Kingdom, Spain, Poland and Italy. Bingos.com was bought by London-based NetPlayTV in April2008 for over 7 million euros, joining Websites such as Casino joker,Bingo Friends and Super Casino in the company stable. Sweden is seen as one of the more gambler-friendly nations in Europe, with 100 traditional bingo halls already in operation and more than85% of the population participating in some form of gambling, whether bingo, poker, lotto or other games. Bingo, which has already filled a community gap in the UK gambling world, for example, might very well succeed in the Scandinavian country, with its Swedish language chat rooms a way to communicate in the cold winter months. Netplay CEO Dominic Mansour said his company is excited about the new Swedish site. "The high Internet penetration and propensity to play bingo makes Sweden a key market for us," he said.

Wales the One to Beat, Say Rugby Odds

Wales is shaping up as the team to beat in this year's Six Nations Rugby tournament, according to the current bookmakers' odds. After completing a Grand Slam in the previous tournament, in which they beat all five of their opponents to claim the tournament, the Welsh are leading the odds at UK bookmakers to once again claim the title, with Ladbrokes quoting them at 5/2. The annual tournament pits the northern hemisphere's six best rugby nations against each other, with each team only getting one chance against each of their opponents. England, France and Ireland are considered the main challengers to the Welsh, all quoted at 11/4. Scotland, 25/1, and Italy, 66/1 will both need a miracle if they are to claim the crown. Although favorite, Wales is strangely not considered the most likely to achieve another grand slam. Ireland leads the odds to actually win all five matches (in which case they would obviously win the tournament), at 11/2. England and France are both 13/2, and Wales 8/1. The Six-Nations starts in February. There are plenty of international fixtures still to come in preparation for the Six Nations and its southern hemisphere equivalent, the Tri-Nations (involving Australia, South Africa and New Zealand). When it comes to friendlies against the stronger southern teams, the northerners find the odds pitted against them. Wales is 2.74 at UK-based Betfair to earn a home win against Australia, 1.5, while England is a long-shot 11.00 at home to New Zealand, 1.1. The All Blacks are looking particularly unstoppable as they try to make amends for yet another shock early exit from the World Cup in 2007.

Texas Bill Aims to Legalize Poker

An amended bill seeking to legalize and regulate poker rooms has been introduced in the state legislature. Poker Gaming Act 2009 Democratic State Representative Jose Menendez re-launched HB222 in the House of Representatives after a previous attempt to introduce laws legalizing and regulating poker fell apart at the committee stage. If passed, the Poker Gaming Act 2009 would require that all poker gaming in Texas be regulated and licensed by the Texas Lottery Commission. The bill will allow for a wide range of applicants to host poker gaming, including bars, tribal-gaming interests and charitable organizations. The bill would also form a Poker Gaming Revenue Fund, which would be used on social projects for the homeless. Menendez told local radio he is not interested in seeing poker rooms  "on every corner around the state," pointing out that the aim of this bill was to ensure the game could exist in a regulated format. Poker, Texas style Texas is obviously a big poker-playing state, given that it was there that Texas Holdem, the most popular variant of poker in the world today - was invented around a century ago. Menendez noted that there is a need to amend the current laws banning the game to make room for certain instances in which poker is played, such as the need for a venue to collect a bit of the pot to pay for certain things such as air-conditioning. He justified the bill on the grounds that requiring licensing would prevent the proliferation of poker rooms and that it would also improve security, given that illegal poker games are an easier target for robbers who know they have nothing to fear from police involvement.

Betting on the Financial Crisis

Cynics say playing the stock market is no different than betting on sports with bookmakers. With that in mind, bookies are taking advantage of the interest in the financial crisis to offer live betting on the markets. At Ladbrokes, betting can be made on the level of Britain's FTSE 100 index, as it happens. Displaying the live level next to the high line and low line odds, bets can be made for a five-minute period or for hourly or daily rates. The Germany 30 index is also available for live betting. But one has to be quick, as the odds change by the second before your eyes. It's just like the real thing in terms of pressure. Currencies too If the indices aren't your game but the currencies are, a whole range of moving odds are available on currency rates, again over a five-minute, hourly or daily period of time. The US dollar, British pound, the euro, Swiss franc, Japanese yen and rapidly-sliding Australian dollar are all up for speculation.

Horse Racing Back In China

The first commercial horse race in mainland China since 1949 will take place this weekend in the central city of Wuhan, according to local media. The riders will race for a total of 120,000 yuan (around $18,000) in prize money. They will compete in a newly-built 30,000 seat arena, suggesting that there will be more races in the future. Future meetings are expected to be held two days a week, the Beijing Evening Post reported. Earlier this year, state news agency Xinhua reported that the Chinese government was considering legalizing gambling on horse races, beginning with Wuhan, which was one of the centers for horse racing before it was banned and has grown rapidly since then to become a city of almost 10 million people. However this weekend's races are purely a trial, with only non-cash prizes on offer. The Communist Party banned horse racing and other gambling-related activities after taking power in the Chinese revolution in 1949, following the prolonged and bloody civil war with the Kuomintang, or Chinese Nationalist Party. However, horse racing remained popular in Hong Kong - the former British territory returned to Chinese rule in 1997 - where crowds in excess of 80,000 regularly turn up to see the world's best jockeys race each other at the Happy Valley and Sha Tin racecourses. If completely revived, betting on horseracing is expected to be just as popular on the mainland, with experts saying it could generate up to three million jobs and 40 million yuan in tax revenues annually.

Irish Luck for Online Casinos

In exciting news for online casinos operating out of Ireland, the finance ministry has delayed imposing any taxes on online gambling. Exempt They say it's the luck of the Irish and they aren't wrong - online casinos operating in Irish cyberspace will not have any taxes imposed upon them. This has come as welcome news to Ireland's online gambling community. There were valid concerns that taxes would be imposed on the online gambling industry especially since there was a 1% increase in taxes on betting shops - from 1pc to 2pc. Luckily for Irish gambling operators, the tax exemption includes all telephonic bets too. The Irish Minister of Finance, Brian Lenihan, stated that the ministry requires additional time to examine the industry. If and when the time is right, they will consider imposing taxes. Implications Any indication that online casinos will be taxed will be met in equal measure by an exodus from Ireland of many operators. For now it's tax-free central and everyone is happy about it.

Busted by Poker Players

In online gambling news that guaranteed to rock the global community, a massive scandal to the tune of $20 million was uncovered by computer programmer Todd Witteles, a pro-Poker player after a four-month extensive investigation. If ever a hot potato was about to be dropped on a largely unaccountable industry, it's now with news of an astonishing multi-million dollar cheating conspiracy by poker players. As a result 60 Minutes and the Washington Post have teamed up to bring viewers the breaking news. No laughing matter When an $18 billion industry with few, if any, regulations and controls has players defrauding the online gambling industry, something needs to be done. The reins were taken up by Steve Kroft of 60 Minutes and Pulitzer-Prize winner Gilbert Gaul. The issue at stake: a seemingly ordinary online poker player who played with gay abandon, recklessly at times and yet continued to win at an unprecedented rate. When Todd Witteles kept on losing to the guy, he smelled a rat. That's when he started digging beneath the surface. Another poker player figured that the odds of winning the way the cheaters were was virtually impossible - yet they were pulling it off time and again. Both Absolute Bet and Ultimate Poker suffered huge losses in excess of $20 million. Scandal abounds This latest scandal comes on the back of several others - like cheaters who manipulate software to view other players' hole cards in poker. That particular scandal resulted in a $75 million claim against a Canadian company recently. That was on Ultimate Bet's online portal. That particular claim was filed by Blast-Off Ltd. of Malta, a company that has an ownership interest in Ultimate Bet. Regulation and legality The online sites are located in untouchable territory on an Indian reservation of a Mohawk tribe - just outside of Montreal. The authorities are as yet unable to regulate the industry - which operates in cyberspace and is not subject to any specific jurisdiction.
