Online gambling operators are beginning to understand the importance of catering to their Asian clientele, and the evidence is there in the form of an increasing number of payment methods for regional and local players. Latest payment methodsAsiapay88 is an example of a simple and secure online casino payment method that is popular with players throughout eastern and south-east Asia. Available at a wide range of online casinos, poker rooms and sportsbooks, this option allows players to make deposits in Chinese Renminbi, Indonesia Ruppiah, Malaysian Ringgit, Vietnamese Dong and Thai Baht. There is also a growing number of country-specific payment options, as seen by the recent introduction of two methods for Thai players: ECashAsia and PayBay are both secure, convenient deposit methods that allow customers to transfer funds from their bank account to their casino account. Why go local? The online casino industry has seen as surge in localized payment method, whether it be for the European audience, Latin American gamblers, or elsewhere. All these options have been designed to cater for players in their own currencies and languages, so why should Asian gambling be any different? Major credit cards like Visa and MasterCard, plus leading online gambling e-wallet providers such as Skrill (Moneybookers) and Click2Pay are good options, but the fact is that they only conduct their transactions in US dollars, euros and other non-Asian currencies. By supporting the Asian payment methods, local gamblers are ultimately supporting themselves.

Wigan Athletic shocked Manchester City to win their first ever FA Cup on Saturday, but it's back to business already tonight; the Latics are firmly ensconced in the relegation zone, and to make matters worse, they travel to Emirates Stadium to play Arsenal, who need a win to stay in contention for the fourth and final Champions League spot. Amazingly, it is Wigan and not Arsenal who are guaranteed a spot in Europe next season. But if the club is to avoid the dubious distinction of being the first team to win the FA Cup and be relegated in the same season, it will need to win consecutive matches outside DW Stadium for the first time since last season. In tonight's other English Premier League game, Man City travel to Reading, and neither side has much to play for aside from pride. City need only one point from their last two games to seal the runners-up position, but will also be looking to save face after the Cup debacle. Reading's relegation has been confirmed, but a win here would help reduce the pain. In William Hill's pre-game betting odds, Wigan is 8/1 to win, Arsenal is 3/10, and a draw is paying 9/2. At Reading, the home side is 11/2, Man City is 1/2, and a draw is 16/5. Hill also has dozens of bets on Correct Score, Goalscorer Markets, and a range of other betting options on both matches. Looking at the bigger picture, Arsenal is 8/11 and Tottenham at Even Money to claim the final English spot in the UEFA Champions League next season. In the relegation battle, Wigan is still 1/50 favorite to suffer the drop (it would need to win both games to avoid it), while Sunderland is 16/1 and Aston Villa 25/1. Of course, live betting is the most exciting innovation these days, and William Hill Sports customers can bet in-play on both Wigan vs Arsenal and Reading vs Man City. Just log into the online sportsbook and click "In-Play Betting" to access updated odds as the game is being played.
888, one of the world's largest online gambling operators, expects to launch online poker in Nevada this summer, and anticipates that its product will boom by 2015. Bullish on US online poker "In Nevada we are awaiting final-sign-off by the gaming control board on our software," 888 CEO Brian Mattingley was quoted as saying by Reuters on Tuesday, adding that the online poker product should go live by the third quarter. 888 recently became the first operator to receive a Nevada license and is also aiming for a New Jersey license. As Nevada and New Jersey start handing out more licenses and other states pass their own regulations, a lot of marketing spending will be made by companies jostling for position in the United States in the next year, Mattingley said. He added 888 will "start to see some really influential numbers" to its business from 2015. Taking on Europe too In the meantime, 888's strong performance in Spain and Italy has seen its revenues rise 9% in the first quarter of 2013. The Italian online gambling business received a boost after the government allowed companies to offer online slots as part of their comprehensive Internet casino packages. The latest word, according to EGR magazine, is that a 888 sportsbook launch in both Spain and Italy is imminent, following a new supplier deal. Should they manage to complete that arrangement, it will likely boost revenues further and give 888 more confidence as it takes on the all-important American market.

Wigan's shock FA Cup final victory over Manchester City on Saturday saw the online sportsbooks clean up, but punters will no doubt be back with a vengeance when the 2013/14 season gets underway. FA Cup shock Relegation-strugglers Wigan Athletic overcame 80/1 pre-season odds to stun unbackable favorite Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday, with Ben Watson's stoppage time header proving enough to prove what some commentators claimed was "the biggest FA Cup upset for a quarter of a century." Watson's last minute goal came just a few minutes after Manchester City's Pablo Zabaleta was sent off for a second yellow card, becoming the third player to be send off in a Cup final. But more importantly, Wigan it was the best result for bookies since Wimbledon won the FA Cup in 1988. Next year's oddsWilliam Hill Sports has installed Wigan at 100/1 to defend their first ever FA Cup title in 2014, while the favorites are as follows: Manchester City and Manchester United are both 6/1, or 5/2 on either club to win; Chelsea are 7/1 third favorites, while Arsenal is the other realistic contender at 8/1. Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has now been placed at even money to still have his job on day one of next season, while his club is at 5/2 to still be playing Premiership Football next season. Man City manager Mancini - trophy-less this year - is at 4/11 to be manager on day one of next season.
May marks a major milestone for the world of online gambling, with British giant William Hill becoming the first firm in the industry to join the FTSE100 since PartyGaming's exit a couple of years ago. Hill on FTSE 100 FTSE Group, a provider of stock market indices, announced that due to the merger of Anglo-Swiss multinational mining companies Glencore PLC and Xstrata PLC, William Hill will be added to the FTSE 100 Index of the biggest shares on the London Stock Exchange by total market capitalization. This latest news comes hot on the heels of two major steps by William Hill: in April, it completed its £425 million buyout of Playtech's 29% share in their William Hill Online joint venture. In addition, it recently acquired the Australian operations of leading rival gambling firm Sportingbet for £459 million, as part of an international expansion strategy. Lone gambling firm The only previous gambling firm to have the honor of a place on the FTSE100 was PartyGaming, which held a spot there until its market capitalization fell low in 2010, and then ceased to exist as a sole entity following its merger with Bwin to become bwin.party digital entertainment. The merged company remains listed on the London Stock Exchange with joint CEOs, and is best known for its online poker room PartyPoker and its online sportsbook under the bwin brand. At the time it became the world's largest online gambling firm, but today it sits well behind William Hill and the FTSE top 100 for market cap.
