A recent study by Juniper Research has estimated that by 2018 that number will have grown by an extra 100 million, with much of the increase being down to the expected opening up of the US market.
The research suggests that users will be betting on sports, and playing mobile casinos or Poker, and with more and more sites developing sophisticated apps to assist in this, the growth is likely to accelerate. It is widely expected that the rules surrounding online betting in the USA will soon be relaxed, allowing residents to play at many of these sites for the first time since the laws were tightened in 2006.
