Unibet was the most decorated operator at the 2016 EGR Awards, while NetEnt, Pinnacle, and BetBright also won very prestigious awards in competitive categories.
Tuesday (November 28) night saw 12th EGR Awards ceremony take place at the Artillery Garden in London. More than 650 industry professionals were in the attendance at this year's ceremony. eGaming Review Magazine's awards are among the best-known and most prestigious awards in the industry, so it is no surprise the event gathered who's who of the online gaming world.
Unibet Operator of the Year
The most prestigious of all awards, the Operator of the Year title, went to Unibet. Henrik Tjärnstrom, the CEO of Unibet Group, didn't try to hide his excitement about the prestigious award which truly rounded up the year for the company.
Adding to Unibet's celebration were two more awards: Socially Responsible Operator and Best Marketing Campaign of the Year. Winning three awards at such a prestigious ceremony is a great achievement, but Unibet's executives emphasized these awards were a result of combined team efforts of various departments and individuals in the company.
Unibet's "Luck is no Coincidence" marketing videos gathered more than 30 million views and challenged the industry advertising norms. This enormous success was crowned on Tuesday when EGR officially recognized their marketing campaign as the best we saw this year.
NetEnt Stands Up to the Competition
When it comes to online casino game suppliers, the competition is fierce. There are quite a few companies out there not afraid of leaving their comfort zone and exploring new things to try and create more exciting and visually stunning games to attract players.
That fact makes NetEnt's victory even sweeter, as their Guns 'N Roses slot was picked to receive the EGR Game of the Year award, besting other twelve games in the competition. This is the second year in a row that NetEnt's product was selected as the winner in the Game of the Year category, as their Spinata Grande slot picked up the coveted award in 2015.
Important Recognition for BetBright
BetBright, the Ireland, Dublin-based company founded in 2012 had a lot of reason to celebrate after Tuesday ceremony as they were honored with the EGR In-House Product of the Year award. The competition was particularly fierce in 2016 for this category, which makes BetBright's triumph all the more significant.
The company was awarded for their "Genius" and "Recall" products. The "Genius" technology has been designed so as to help bettors with making their decisions, providing them with as much relevant information as possible. "Recall," on the other hand, makes life easier on the operator, as it tracks users betting patterns and behavior, enabling BetBright to come up with highly customized, personalized offers.
Pinnacle eSports Operator of the Year
eSports were another category where the competition was quite remarkable. In the end, it was Pinnacle who stood out from the rest, receiving the EGR eSports Operator of the Year award. Pinnacle has been offering eSports betting since 2010, and when they first started, there was barely any market for this type of betting.
However, as Marco Blume, Trading Director at the company, explained, they weathered the storms and are now seeing tremendous growth in eSports betting volume. For Pinnacle, this award is another affirmation their 2010 vision, was spot on.
