A New Era in Africa is Launched With the Entry of Major Operator 888Published October 13, 2022 by Lee R
Africa has one of the most important economic opportunities ever as major operator 888 enters four newly regulated jurisdictions.
A new era in Africa is launched with the entry of major global operator 888 into four jurisdictions.
The Africa Venture
Through a new 888Africa venture, online gambling operator 888 has announced the launch of its global 888bet brand in Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Zambia.
Launching in Africa
These are the maiden market launches in Africa for 888’s Africa foray.
Established in March of this year 2022, 888 provided an initial investment to launch 888Africa as the organisational arm for offering 888 brands in online betting and gaming markets across regulated countries in Africa. The option to increase control and ultimately take over up to 100% of 888Africa is reserved by 888.
The new offerings from 888 provide players in each of the four countries with access to online sports betting.
Zambia players are additionally eligible to play 888casino online casino games. 888bet is offering cash out, and jackpots across over 1,500 casino games there.
Offerings are currently available in Swahili, Portuguese, and English languages across the markets.
888Africa Spokesperson Speaks
The company assured it was looking forward to launching in more Africa markets as soon as possible:
“We are delighted to hit our target and launch into four regulated markets within six months of founding the business,” said 888Africa chief executive Christopher Coyne said.
New 888 Opportunities
Coyne called the new launch into Africa a major milestone for 888 and looked forward to the greater expansion opportunities he sees in Africa:
Coyne believes the longer-term goals of his organisation can be served through the strength of the brand 888 brings in, calling the “strength, history and trust of the 888 brand” the competitive edge needed to “build market-leading positions across Africa.”
Coyne looked forward “to introducing 888bet and its unique offer to new players across the region in the months ahead.”
888 CEO Speaks
888 chief executive Itai Pazner rejoined:
“It is great to see Christopher and his team successfully launch 888bet in Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Zambia and begin 888Africa’s growth story on the continent.”
The bolstering of the markets in Africa with the entry of one of iGaming’s biggest operators is a great chance for Africa to experience the online revenue benefits that western jurisdictions have been harnessing since iGaming was first launched some two decades ago.
With the African gambling market forecast to reach $5.6bn by 2030, 888bet hopes to capitalise in kind, betting that Africa will merge into a robust market.
