Sports betting was shaken this when Major League Baseball suspended Alex Rodriguez until the end of 2014 and suspended 12 others for 50 games for participating in anti-aging clinic Biogenesis.
A-Rod Suspension
Rodriguez was the hardest hit of the MLB suspensions, with league Commissioner Bud Selig explaining that the punishment was allowed under the drug program's rules and was based on A-Rod's "use and possession of numerous forms of prohibited performance-enhancing substances…over the course of multiple years."
Twelve other players were banned for 50 games for their involvement in the same South Florida anti-aging clinic Biogenesis, including three high-profile All-Stars: Nelson Cruz from the Texas Rangers, Everth Cabrera of the San Diego Padres, and Jhonny Peralta of the Detroit Tigers.
Impact on Sports Betting
