AL Division Series: Detroit Tigers vs Baltimore Orioles

The Tigers travel to Baltimore to take on the Orioles in Game 1 of the ALDS. Watch live at 22:35 (UK).

The American League divisional series gets underway tonight and after a relatively long wait, the Baltimore Orioles finally know whom they must go up against. The Detroit Tigers travel to Camden Yards to kick-off their post-season campaign. Taking on the winner of the AL East would more often than not be the last thing any team would want, but the Tigers went 5-1 against the Orioles this year and could pose a serious problem for the home team.

Keys to Victory

While the Baltimore Orioles have an excellent late inning relief pitching staff, the Tigers Achilles heel throughout the year has been their relief pitchers.  The Orioles can take serious advantage of the weaker Tigers bullpen by making starter Max Scherzer throw a lot of balls early on forcing the visitors to change it up on the mound. By comparison, the O's relief staff, especially the trio of Andrew Miller, Darren O'Day and Zach Britton have been near perfect after the seventh inning, while Detroit’s combined relief efforts score a dismal 4.28.

It will be a tough task to make the likes of Max Scherzer be anything less than his CY Young winning-self, and if he is struggling, Brad Ausmus could easily call upon Justin Verlander or David Price; both CY Young winners as well.

Game one will come down to, as it always does, which team puts more runners across the plate and both dugouts have the bat strength to get the job done.

Winner Sports Betting Markets

The Orioles are well rested but unsurprisingly, they are not the favorites for game one due to them losing all but one game against the Tigers this season. Winner Sports has the home team as the underdogs at an even 2.00, while the Tigers are at 1.83. A margin that is honestly too close to call, but Winner has a long list of additional markets for punters to choose from. Over/Under, winner after five full innings and many other lines can be found at Winner Sports prior to game time.
