Djoka, Serena lead Wimbledon online betting odds two weeks out from tournament
The French Open is over and attention in world of sports betting turns to Wimbledon, where the world's best men's and women's tennis players will compete for grand slam glory on June 24-July 7.
French Open Wrap
Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams both justified their pre-tournament French Open favoritism and brought about a solid victory for the online sportsbooks over the punters when they lifted the men's singles and women's singles trophies at Roland Garros over the weekend.
Nadal showed that he is king of clay by winning the French Open for the fourth straight time and a record eighth time overall despite having been in poor form in the leadup to the tournament. Likewise, Serena overcame a poor recent record in Paris to defeat all other challengers for the women's crown.
Wimbledon Betting Preview
William Hill's pre-tournament Wimbledon men's title odds are once again a race between only a few contenders: Novak Djokovic, 15/8, Andy Murray, 5/2, Rafael Nadal, 3/1, Roger Federer, 9/2, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 16/1, Juan Martin del Potro, 25/1, all other contenders 50/1 and over.
In the ladies' singles, Serena Williams leads the title betting odds at 4/7, followed by three main rivals in Maria Sharapova, 5/1, Victoria Azarenka, 11/2, and Petra Kvitova, 6/1. Eight other players have odds of 40/1 or less, including Na Li and Angelique Kerber.
