American Poker Online Highlights

New legislation seeks to regulate online gaming poker.

A U.S. House of Representatives member has recently introduced a bill which in effect would regulate online gaming. Currently referred to as the Internet Gambling Protection and Enforcement Act of 2013, its legal intent is to regulate and oversee all online gaming at the federal level. Under this proposed bill, only sportsbook betting would be exempt.

The bill would mimic many of the safety measures and checks and balances that Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware have already enacted.  Under proposed legislation, any state that has previously heretofore passed online gaming will be grandfathered into this law.  However, should any state decide it does not want to be part of this proposed federally mandated system, it has the ability to opt out.

States Roundup:

In relationship to online Ultimate Poker, Nevada has added the likes of two-time WPT champ and senior Ante Up strategy columnist Jonathan Little and several other proven poker champs to help promote their site this summer at the WSOP.  These champions will be actively playing on site.

In New Jersey the status of the deal between PokerStars and Atlantic City is still perceived to be wobbly after PokerStars failed to get a preliminary gaming licensed from the Garden State.

Illinois seems to have missed out on its online poker dreams since the state bill on the docket has again been passed over. Meanwhile in California, yet another bill seeking to regulate online poker has been introduced.  This legal opposition has been brought by a group of eight tribal Indian groups who seek to license operators who are tribal governments or cardrooms that have been operational for at least five years.

So that's the latest skinny on the status of American online poker. Now that you've been enlightened, why not check out one of the premiere online poker sites such as Grande Vegas Casino.
