Andy Murray vs Marin Cilic: Barclays World Tour Finals

Sol FH. - November 14, 2016

The UK's first No. 1 rank in professional Tennis makes his debut tonight at 20:00 GMT.

Andy Murray is the first Briton to be ranked number 1 since the Emirates ATP Rankings was founded in 1973. Murray had an incredible 2016 and has capped it off with a number 1 ranking. Tonight will be his debut in the 2016 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals and he faces the last man that was able to beat him, Marin Cilic.

Tonight will be fitting for the UK tennis star, as he is not only the first Briton with a number 1 ranking, but he will be playing his first match as the world number 1 in the UK and just an hour's drive from his home in Surrey. He is in Group John McEnroe with Cilic, Kei Nishikori and Stan Wawrinka, while the other Group Ivan Lendl consists of Novak Djokovic, Milos Raonic, Dominic Thiem and Gael Monfils.

Murray has his eyes on the prize and knows that if he wins this tournament that he will end 2016 with the number 1 ranking, which would carry on next season as well. He has been on a tear with 18-straight victories including major wins at the BNP Paribas Masters, Erste Bank Open 500, the Shanghai Rolex Masters and the China Open.

Cilic has beaten Murray thrice and the last time was in the Final of the 2016 Cincinnati open in straight sets. Murray now is not Murray then and Cilic will need to pull out every trick in the book to win tonight's match.
