Atari to Re-Launch as an Interactive Entertainment

Atari is a company that many people will have known about as they were growing up, as they developed some of the most iconic video games such as Pong, Centipede and Asteroids, which were sold in their millions and played on Atari branded consoles. At one point, Atari was the fastest growing company in US history, but following the rapid decline in video game arcades from 1983, they ran into a string of difficulties and many thought that the business was no longer in existence.

However, following a recent announcement, it's clear that not only are they still operating, but Atari is about to re-invent itself.

The Future Plans of Atari

The company has announced plans for a whole new corporate strategy which will see it become an interactive entertainment production company, bringing out new versions of old games, online casino gaming, YouTube content and more. It is extending the platforms on which many games can be played, with both iOS and Android powered mobile devices, PC's and other mediums all being able to play Atari content.

Such hit games as Rollercoaster Tycoon and Haunted House have been re-released out for playing on mobiles, with Rollercoaster Tycoon being one of the top 25 games in the App Store.

The company will also continue to license hardware with a particular focus on games compatible and wearable devices, while re-introducing some of the most popular titles from their back catalogue, including Asteroids.

Online Casino Developments

Atari have also recently announced new partnerships with online gambling providers, with a virtual currency social casino deal being struck with Flowpay, and a real-money online casino collaboration with Pariplay.

The Chief Executive Officer of Atari, Fred Chesnais has said of the plans ''We're looking forward to delivering on our new strategy and engaging with our audience in new ways across multiple channels as the next era of Atari unfolds.''
