Atlantic City Casinos Hits New Highs in NJ

Online gaming is booming in the state of New Jersey.

Increased Tax Dollars

The boom for New Jersey means just what every state wants—more tax dollars.  Statistics released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement revealed that in March 2015, the state's online casinos and poker sites hauled in a record $13.16 million in total revenues.  This figure represents the highest monthly total in the history of the emerging industry.

The report further reveals that online casino operators contributed $3.25 million to the state's responsible gambling funds, pushing the cumulative total for online taxing intake to over $25 million.

Tapping Into iGaming

Play NJ Spokesperson John Darr calls this the beginning of the tapping into the potential of the online industry for the state, and is a huge breakthrough for USA online casino play. New Jersey's online gaming market is provided by Atlantic City Casinos, and includes versions of traditional casino games like Black Jack and Roulette in addition to online poker.

The breakdown shows that online gaming's $13.16 million intake yielded $10.9 million from casino play and $2.22 million from online poker.

First-Time Achievements

The leading individual provider was Borgota, whose online casino and poker games Borgota brought in $4 million in March.  Borgota eclipsed the $4 million figure for the first time since 2014, a trick that only Borgota has been able to accomplish in New Jersey to date.  

Online provider Tropicana's $3 million take represented the first time any operator eclipsed this mark for online casino revenue. Golden Nugget also came close to the $3 million mark with revenues of $2.96 million for casino play for the month as well.
