ATP Cincinnati: Richard Gasquet vs John-Patrick Smith

Sol FH. - August 14, 2017

The heavy-hitting French hopeful, Gasquet is set to take on Australian John-Patrick Smith at 16:00 GMT.

Richard Gasquet has a somewhat easy draw for his Round of 64 match as he faces 28 year old Australian, John-Patrick Smith. Gasquet comes into the match ranked No. 29 overall, while Smith is in at 218 on the tour. This will be the very first time they will have met, even though Gasquet turned pro in 2002 and Smith back in 2012, the Aussie has much less experience in the big-time with only 5-wins and 12-losses.

Gasquet has seen it all and his overall record is in the green at 477 won and 273 lost. The Frenchman has won 14 major titles and is known for his heavy one-handed backhand and very hard serve. Smith needed to qualify to make it into the Round of 64 and he did it in style by beating Vasek Poposil in straight sets, and then against Christian Harrison. Gasquet has not been at the top of his game lately, and went out in the 2nd round of the Montreal Open to Alexander Zverev and before that to David Ferrer in the 1st round in London.
