Basel and Sankt Gallen Wrap Up the Swiss Super League

Basel prepares for a new title celebration and seeks victory over Sankt Gallen in front of its fans (7:30 p.m UK Time).

Basel is without a doubt the most successful Swiss team and the winner of the domestic championship. It cruised to this trophy from the first round and gave better teams a run for their money in European competitions. This is the last match that they will play in front of their fans this year, therefore a must win fixture. Sankt Gallen come visiting and despite their recent struggles, the rivalry with the reigning champions is very much alive.

Important European Scouters in the Standings

Basel players should be motivated by the existing rivalry between the two teams, despite their current position in the Swiss Super League tables. The younger players however are less concerned about the overall head to head record and might be tempted to let their guard down. Manager Fischer had a hard time keeping them motivated and his team failed to win any of the previous four games.

All they needed was another competitive match, such as the one played against Sion in the final of the Swiss cup. Now they are back at 100% and willing to wrap up an incredible season with a victory in front of their fans. Another argument in favor of doing their best is that European scouters are watching from the stands. Basel has sold many great players to European clubs and matches like this one can act as a springboard for talented footballers.

Sankt Gallen Won't Hold Back

The visitors were never truly in danger of relegating despite playing well below expectations this season. The poor quality of their opponents allowed them to enjoy every game without fearing the worst. As a result, they have scored a bucketful of goals throughout the season but allowed even more. Against Basel, they don’t have any reason to defend and will instead try to improve their head to head record. The result should be a match with plenty of goals scored, so punters should bet on more than 2.5 goals to be scored with bet365 sports.
