With the all-star weekend just a couple of weeks away, let's take a look at the NBA picture as it stands.
The NBA mid-season point is just a couple of weeks away and we are starting to see some very competitive basketball across the league. This week especially has been quite a thriller, as the Cavs were humiliated by the Rockets last night, and the Warriors lost a big game to the Nuggets. The playoff picture is getting harder to predict with teams like the Washington Wizards, or, like the Minnesota Timberwolves making big jumps in the standings. The Celtics and the Raptors are still winning in the East, but how long can they hold on?
The All-Star Game is being played on February 19, at 1:00 GMT. This year, Team Lebron will take on Team Stephen, but the latter seems to be the stronger team. Going into the All-Star Weekend will be a Godsend for some of the teams in the league that need some rest, but what happens until the break is very interesting. There are some very important games this week, and next week, which should make for some incredible basketball for fans around the world.
Making a Push
The Washington Wizards are on a 4-game winning streak, after pulling off wins against the Hawks, Raptors, Thunder, and the Magic. Tonight, at 00:00 GMT, the Wizards face-off against the Indiana Pacers and it looks as though they could extend their streak to 5. The Pacers are actually favorites at 888 Sports with odds of 1.74 to the Wizards' 2.15. A Washington win would put them in a tie with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and could actually bump the Cavs from 3rd place.
In the West, the Warriors are still holding onto their top spot, but, things are getting close for the reigning NBA Champions. The Rockets are on a 4-game tear, including the aforementioned thrashing of the Cavs 120-88. The 3rd place Spurs are suffering after back-to-back losses have put them in a tough position. They are now just one more loss away from dropping to 4th spot, as the Timberwolves are eyeing 3rd.
On Wednesday, February 7 at 00:30 GMT, the biggest game of the week will take place between the Raptors and the Celtics. Boston is in a real tough spot after fending off the Raptors' push all year so far, but with Toronto really coming into its own just how long will the Celtics be able to hold on?
