Bet Live: Federer, Murray Wimbledon R2 MatchesPublished June 26, 2013 by OCR Editor
Roger Federer, Andy Murray take to Wimbledon grass courts this afternoon.
Roger Federer and Andy Murray are on a collision course for a Wimbledon semi-final match up, with Spaniard Rafael Nadal out of the picture following his shock loss to world number 135 Steve Darcis in the first round. Today, Federer and Murray take to the All England Club grasscourts for their second round matches.
Seven-time Wimbledon champ Federer will be confident of overcoming unknown Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky in a match beginning no earlier than 430pm local time. Federer won their only previous encounter in Dubai in 2011, and Stakhovsky is sitting at number 116 in the world following an 8-10 start in ATP level tournaments so far this year.
Like Federer, Murray cannot afford to be complacent when he hits Court No 1 no earlier than 3pm today. The home favorite is 124 points higher than his opponent Lu Yen-Hsun of Taiwan, but he is well aware of what happened to Nadal, admitting to reporters that "everybody is getting better, getting more professional."
William Hill Sports seem to think both top players are certainties, listing both Federer and Murray at 1/100 odds to win their respective matches, and their opponents at long 16/1 odds. However, it is worth keeping in mind that Darcis was 16/1 in pre-match odds against Nadal, which changed rapidly in live betting as the match progressed.
On the topic of live betting, William Hill is bringing this service to its customers throughout Wimbledon. This means you can place an in-play wager on point, game, set or match result on Federer-Stakhovsky, Murray-Lu or any of the other men's and ladies' singles matches in Round Two action today.
What's more, Hill is the official online gambling broadcaster of Wimbledon matches. So if you can't get to the All England Club in London and you can't access the television broadcast through the BBC, you can still follow live streams of matches through WHTV.
