Bet Live on the World Cup Group D: England vs. Italy

England vs. Italy, Group D, 11pm UK time.

The Area Amazonia at Manaus is the venue for today's match between England and Italy for the World Cup's Group D (11pm UK time). The last time these two teams met was in the Euro 2012 quarter-final, a game which saw the Three Lions traditionally losing a penalty shootout at another big tournament after 120 minutes. Tonight the Lions seek revenge against a very strong Italian team.

Italy

The Italians will be encouraged by their performance against Brazilian club Fluminese which ended a 5-3 win, with striker Ciro Immobile sending the English a warning shot after he scored a hat-trick. The Italians are covered in the midfield with experienced players like Motta, Pirlo and De Rossi, linked to a strong attack with Immobile who will be supported by Mario Balotelli. Azzurri defense conceded three goals in their last match, and this seems to be their weakest link for today.

England

England is looking to make an impact on their first game and their fixture against Italy presents them with a great opportunity to avenge the penalty knockout from two years ago. But it's not just that- the English will find themselves fighting a tough uphill battle if they don't squeeze any points at all out of this game. England's young squad has displayed promising performance so far, while striker Wayne Rooney has drawn fire from critics who doubted his necessity in the starting line-up.
