Bet on Sunderland vs Man United at the Stadium of LightPublished August 24, 2014 by Brett C
Kick-off between Sunderland and Manchester United begins at 4pm GMT.
Manchester United makes the journey to Sunderland for Sunday's Premier League match. Pundits have expressed hope that Man United’s star striker Robin van Percie will be match fit for the fixture. His absence in the team's starting line-up was attributed to his commitment to Holland during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Provided he suffers no setbacks in the training leading up to the match on Sunday, he will be playing against Sunderland.
Man United Injury List Grows
Another one of Manchester United's players – Marouane Fellaini - suffered ankle injuries during a training session on Monday, and a further set of examinations will be required to determine the extent of his injuries. Manchester United comes under increasing pressure to perform, owing to their recent defeat against Swansea City back at Old Trafford. In that match they lost 2-1.
There is no doubt that Van Persie will be the go to man for Manchester United as they try to get back on track early on in the 2014/15 Premier League season. Another United player – Jesse Lingard – was replaced last Saturday when he left the match against Swansea. He was later seen in crutches when he emerged from Manchester's Bridgwater hospital.
Head to Head: Sunderland and Man United
There is no doubt that injury concerns are weighing heavily on the mind of United's manager Van Gaal. The absence of Fellaini and quite possibly Van Persie will put a big dent in his team's hopes of turning their campaign around. The Man United/Sunderland match kicks off at 4 PM GMT at the Stadium of Light.
As for Sunderland they will be well pleased with their 2-2 performance against West Bromwich. Sunderland midfielder Seb Larsson was buoyed by his side's performance, and the team will take that confidence with them into the match against a downtrodden Manchester United.
