Betting On Royal Baby Name ReopensPublished April 15, 2013 by OCR Editor
Bookies have taken a flurry of bets on Alexandra being the name for the new royal baby
William Hill Sports has reopened its royal baby name betting after a 36 hour suspension, with Alexandra firming from 33/1 to 2/1 favorite. In addition names betting, Hill is offering a number of other great wagering options.
What's in a name?
Although not a common royal family name, Alexandra would not be as big a break from tradition as some would suspect. At least two women in the family have carried the name in recent history - the cousin of Queen Elizabeth and the wife of Edward VII, who was crowned in 1902.
Other names on Hill's baby name list are: Elizabeth, 5/1, Diana, 11/2, Victoria, 6/1, Frances, Mary, 10/1, Sophia, 12/1, George, Grace, 14/1, Alice, Anne, 16/1, Kate, Charles, Charlotte, John, Louis, Phillip, Richard, Thomas, 20/1, Carole, Caroline, Edward, James, Phillipa, William, 25/1, others on request.
More royal betting
Gender betting has been suspended after a slip-up by the duchess hinted that it would be a girl. But plenty of other wagers can be made, including the date it is born (around June-July), the day it is born, its hair color, the method in which Kate will give birth, and which magazine will get the exclusive first picture rights to William and Kate's baby.
On that final topic, these are the odds: Hello, 6/4, OK, 2/1, Vogue, 4/1, Now, 5/1, Closer, 25/1, Cosmopolitan, 50/1, Nuts and Zoo an unlikely 100/1.
