SiGMA Charitable Arm ¡Buen Camino! Raises €50,000 for Charity

SiGMA’s El Camino trek project is growing, and succeeding, rapidly.

An ambitious charitable project from global iGaming platform SIGMA’s charitable arm has raised €50,000 for upcoming projects.

Latest Effort

SiGMA has announced that The ¡Buen Camino! SiGMA Foundation has successfully completed SiGMA Foundation’s Camino de Santiago challenge of April 2023.

Fourth Edition

The group was proud to announce the final figure of SiGMA Foundation’s 4th Camino expedition as €50,000 to support upcoming charitable projects.

Spiritual Journey

The preparation and bonding with colleagues on the journey actually begins months before the actual walk, serving to enrich the emotional bonds between all participants and colleagues as the time builds towards completing the actual trek.

The Project to Date

SiGMA’s fourth fundraise represented the completion of the fourth Camino challenge in less than three years. Bringing together diverse groups of participants for a once-in-a-lifetime 120k trek through the farmlands and forests of Spain to the legendary Santiago de Compostela cathedral, the May 2021 event of 27 participants raised an additional €135,000.

Full Fundraising Tallies

A group of 28 trekkers last September raised another €60,000. Coupled with one more trek in September 2021, the total raised from the four treks now tops out at a whopping €250,000.

Event Chief Speaks

SiGMA Events Coordinator and Foundation Contributor Jessie Bustil described the unique experience:

It’s close to impossible to put into words but you start with a feeling of excitement and a fear of the unknown … to some soreness and uncertainty on whether you will make it through. But surely enough with the encouragement and the camaraderie that you make on the way, time flies and you’ve come out of it with a new group of great friends and a set of skills that you’ll never forget.

Use of Funds

The funds raised have so far been invested in educating 1000 children in Ethiopia through financing the construction of a 3-in-1 school complex in Bonga, Ethiopia that includes a kindergarten, primary, and lower-secondary school--under the auspices of the Women Empowerment Project in Jimma-Bonga, Ethiopia.

Department Chief Speaks

SiGMA Chief Philanthropy Officer Keith Marshall said:

This challenge embodies what the SiGMA Foundation is all about – bringing folks from completely different walks of life together for a common cause. We build friendships and kindred spirit, we build teams, we build fundraising platforms, we build projects in Ethiopia, we build lives.

Continuing On

SiGMA’s Camino fundraising project will continue, with greater financial and investment goals of over €700,000.

Outlook

The early returns are a refreshing vision of what can happen when iGaming communities are galvanised to leverage their position to bring about social change through the iGaming space.
