The proposed reforms to gambling legislation would increase tax base by enabling local operators to attract players from areas where there are a high concentration of users, such as Macau, or from areas where online gaming is quasi-legal, or just being legalized, such as the United States.
Sports-betting in the Mix
The government also is considering sponsoring sports betting as a way to stifle organized crime bookkeeping and match fixing.
