Canadian Players Bid Betfair GoodbyePublished December 27, 2015 by Florin P
Betfair’s love affair with the Canadian market ends in January 2016.
Even the best things eventually come to an end, but Canadian players are still expected to miss the services offered by the one of the world’s largest betting exchange. Betfair's withdrawal from Canada was until recently a rumor, but it is now official that Canadian customers will be cut off starting on January 14, 2016. This is the result of the highly anticipated Paddy Power and Betfair merger, but luckily for fans of online gambling from Canada, there are worthy alternatives such as bet365 and 888.
Less than One Month to Manage Active Positions
Canadian players were officially notified that as of 14 January 2016 all the products currently offered by Betfair will be unavailable to residents of Canada. Players from this country will no longer be able to place new bets and all outstanding wagers will be canceled. In addition to having all gaming products blocked, Canadians will need to get in touch with customer support to cash out profits after the deadline.
For the time being, they enjoy unrestricted access to their accounts and can bet on any of the games in their offer. The trick is that they need to be settled prior to January 14, so all open positions need to be managed to avoid unnecessary complications. Players are also advised to withdraw all the funds they’ve got in their account, and try to close all their long-term bets.
Another One Bites the Dust
Canadian players considered themselves lucky to be able to bet with the largest bookmakers, but they’ve lost two major operators in less than two years. Ladbrokes was the first to close its Canadian division and now Betfair follows suit, leaving dedicated players with fewer options. As a betting exchange, Betfair offered better than average odds and the user-friendly interface was much appreciated by both amateurs and professional punters.
