Celtic Travels to Edinburgh Hoping to Hand Hearts Another Home DefeatPublished December 27, 2015 by Florin P
Celtic goes guns-blazing on the road against Hearts, in dire need of three points (2:00 p.m UK Time).
For the first time in many years, the Scottish Premier League is highly contested and Aberdeen has a decent chance at winning the trophy. There are plenty of rounds left to play and Celtic usually holds its ground even against the most ambitious rivals, but for now only one point separates them. The reigning champions travel to Edinburgh to take on the local team, one struggling to score goals recently.
The Home Pitch Disadvantage
Under normal circumstances, playing in front of their fans was a huge advantage, but both Hearts and Celtic struggled at home in November. The reigning champions were unable to win a single match and it’s been more than two months since they managed to prevail at home. That’s why, they are probably not that concerned about the fact that they will play on the road against the injury ridden Hearts.
They’ve had their fair share of problems caused by injuries, but recent results didn’t indicate the fact that these absentees were hurting their chances to win. The inevitable happened and Celtic was once again defeated at home, this time by Motherwell who scored twice in less than 10 minutes. Defending an early lead is going to be the top priority for the visiting team in Edinburgh.
Key Players Missing for Hearts
Hearts is expected to start this match prudently, despite the fact that they are playing in front of their fans. They were unable to score many goals recently and also had a hard time keeping clean sheets, a dangerous mix ahead of this fixture.
Their backline is in shambles and with three of their key defenders still mending injuries, manager Neilsen will have to trust a makeshift formation. Juanma and Sow are capable strikers and they have scored a combined 14 goals this season, so they will once again feature up front.
