Champions League Betting: Real Madrid vs Dortmund - Zidane's Chance to Make History
Published December 7, 2016 by Sol FH
Real Madrid must win at home tonight at 19:45 GMT to win Group F, but Dortmund could spoil everything.
Zinedine Zidane has the chance to make history tonight for Los Blancos at Bernabeu tonight in their final match of the Champions League Group Stage. Trailing Dortmund by 2 points in Group F, the former Real star and now manager has the opportunity to claim two achievements at the same time - winning Group F and breaking the club's all-time unbeaten run. All that is needed is a win against Dortmund.
It is now too crazy to say that Zidane is not an excellent head coach. In fact, he is arguably the best coach in La Liga right now and that could also be said for the Champions League. Zidane, in his first year at the helm of Los Blancos, they sit six points atop the La Liga table. After helping Carlo Ancelotti's win the 2014 Champions League final, Zidane in just four months as head coach lifted Real to victory in La Decima. Equaling the unbeaten record of 34 games set by Loe Beenhakker in 1988/89 season, would be an unprecedented feat for a first year manager.
Real Must Win!
Real actually must win tonight to avoid a much tougher draw in the coming rounds of the Champions League and allowing Dortmund to finish in first would be a blow to the team in more ways than one. The last time that Real lost a match was in the Champions League last April after a surprising 2-0 loss to Wolfsburg in the first leg of their quarter-final. When Atletico beat Los Blancos last February in La Liga action, Zidane was swift to get revenge in the Champions League Final and again recently at the Calderon thrashing them 3-0.
They obviously have the talent to win any game against any team in the world, but they must play an excellent game, as Dortmund will be throwing everything they have in order to keep first place in the group.
