Champions League Betting: Roma vs BarcelonaPublished September 16, 2015 by Sol FH
Defending champions Barcelona take on Roma tonight at 19:45 GMT with the group stage beginning tonight across Europe.
Barcelona are the defending champions of the UEFA Champions League and after their huge victory at last year's final against Juventus, Messi, Neymar, Suarez and the rest of the star-studded team are set to prove they are still the best in Europe. Barcelona are the only undefeated team in the La Liga after the first three weeks of play, while Roma are tied for second in Serie A with two wins and a draw.
The name of the game for tonight's Champions League opener is defense and attacking in transition. Roma have to be able to slow down the trifecta of Barca attackers, Messi, Neymar and Suarez, which is no easy task, if they are to think about winning tonight. Group E, features Barcelona, Roma, Bayer Leverkusen and BATE Borisov. Obvious favorites, Barcelona are counting on a flawless group stage, with the ability to destroy any of the teams in their group.
Barcelona have a few injured players tonight after the first three weeks of La Liga action. Bravo is out with a calf injury, as is Vermaelen. Alves and Douglas are still on the injured list with a muscle and hamstring problem respectively. For Roma, they will be without Pjanic, out with a bad knee injury, as well as Capradossi. Rudeiger is doubtful, as is Leandro Castan, but neither of these players will leave too big a hole in the Roma roster.
