Champions League Preview: RB Leipzig Vs. Atletico Madrid

All odds are against RB Leipzig as they try to stop Atletico Madrid from their fourth semi-final in seven years; tonight at 20:00 GMT.

RB Leipzig and Atletico Madrid will face-off for the first time in any competition, tonight at Estadio Jose Alvalade. The odds are stacked against the German side, as they go up against the first-ever Spanish team they've drawn, in its maiden knockout stage appearance, in any competition.

Atletico is the clear favorites to win tonight and advance to the Semi-Finals. They have made it to five Champions League Semi-Finals' in the last seven years. Only Bayern Munich and Barcelona have achieved the same feat over the same time period. The team has not lost a match since February 1 and has never lost to a German side in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.

Do not expect a blowout in this match. In each of Madrid's last seven matches in the tournament, the total goals were 2.5. Leipzig has also had some very tight wins. They are a team that draws quite a few penalty shots so watch out for their strikers to dive in the box.

Atletico is not missing any substantial players, Sime Vrsaljko and Angel Correa did not travel for the match, while Thomas Partey suffered an injury in the final league game of the season.

For Leipzig, Timo Werner left the squad for Chelsea recently, while Ibrahima Konate will be missed on defense, as he is out with an injury.

We cannot count the German squad out just yet. In their last tie, they defeated Tottenham 4-0 on the aggregate and should not be underestimated by any means. The experience definitely goes to Atletico, but, if RB Leipzig can pull off another great feat, they will reach their first Semi-Final in the competition and bring glory to their fans at home.
